MIST Detroit 2013 will be held on March 23rd and 24th at Wayne State University!  Check out our “What’s New” doc for more details on what’s coming this season.

We’ll be revealing the theme and rulebook in December, with registration starting in January.

In the meantime, if you want to start a team at your school, or think your school could use a visit by MIST organizers, please email us at detroit@getmistified.com!

2014 MIST Theme Announced!

Basketball Coalition Teams

$

0

This year, MIST Detroit will be formalizing rules regarding coalition teams for basketball – that is, basketball teams from two or more high schools combining to form one “coalition” basketball team.

Rules
  1. Your coalition team must follow the normal team min/max numbers – no less than 5 team members and no more than 10.
  2. You cannot form a coalition with another school if you have more than enough students from your own school who would like to compete in that competition.  For example, if there are 10 students from School A, School A may not form a coalition team with School B, even if School B only has 2 interested students.
  3. All schools that are part of a coalition would still get the same number of points.  For example, if a coalition team wins 10 points, School A will receive 5 points and School B will receive 5 points (for a total of 10 points awarded, as usual – more points info is on our FAQ page).
  4. All requests for coalition teams must be received by March 10th, the late registration deadline, to detroit@getmistified.com.  The Ambassadors of all schools involved must separately email us.

Coalition teams are designed to allow smaller high schools to participate in basketball – please do not violate this intent.

Registration is now open!

Online registration is now open at:  http://web.adderpit.com/MIST

Detailed FAQs and guides for registration are available here.  Below is a quick refresher for returning competitors:

Registration Deadlines:

  1. Financial Aid Requests must be received by:  February 14th
  2. Early Registration Ends ($35/competitor):  February 21st
  3. Late Registration Ends ($40/competitor):  February 28st
  4. Liability Waivers due at MIST:  March 28th, 2015

How online registration works:

  1. The ambassador signs in and creates a team.  The team name cannot be changed.
  2. Coaches and other team members create accounts, sign in, and join the team.  The Ambassador must approve these requests to join the team.
  3. All members choose which competitions they will participate in.
  4. All members pay online.
  5. The Ambassador sends the registration to the coach for approval.
  6. The Coach approves the registration.  No changes can be made after this point.

What’s the difference between Early and Late Registration?

If a competitor pays by midnight on February 21st, he or she will only have to pay $40.  This means they must have their competitions picked by Feb 21st as well.

If a competitor does not pay by midnight on Feb 21st, he will have until Feb 28th to pick his competitions and pay.  However, the registration fee will increase to $45.

If a competitor or ambassador makes any changes to competition signups after March 1st, the effected competitor’s registration fee will automatically increase to $45, even if they have already paid the early registration fee.

Coach Guidelines:

  1. If your team is larger than 7 members, you must have two coaches – one male, one female.
  2. If your team has less than 7 members, you must have one coach.
  3. All coaches must be over 21 years of age and must attend all of MIST.
  4. MIST will only waive registration fees for the first two coaches.  Any additional coaches must pay the regular registration fee.
  5. Case-by-case exceptions to these rules must be received by February 22nd.
